The Fourth in Boston

We left Bar Harbor early this morning.  I was very emotional, leaving my Mom was not easy.  She and I both acted like everything was okay until it really became time for Joe and I to leave.  It was a lot of tears. I’d never been this far away from her for such an extended period of time.  I am a Mama’s Girl.

The drive was actually really fun.  We just danced and sang the entire time then all of a sudden- we were in Boston! First stop was my good friend Whitney’s apartment to unload, shower, and relax.  Eventually Whit, Joe and I went to Newbury area and got a few drinks, then wandered over to Sylvi’s workplace, The Summer Shack.  We ate a lot of seafood and drank a lot of beers.

After Sylvi got off work we all headed to her favorite bar, Goody Glovers.  Drank more. I think we all see where this is going.  We woke up the next morning, feeling it.  Whitney came over looking oh so fresh faced (how she does it, I don’t know)  We walked over to The Living Room and met up with Krystal!  Fun Fact: Krystal, Whitney, Sylvi and I all met online when we were 13 – 15 years old.  We are lucky if there are more then 2 of us together once a year!   The story of that will come soon.  It’s fun.  So, my head started to feel better after I drank some “Super Mimosas” – orange vodka, OJ, strawberry puree & champagne.  They were exactly what we needed.

Later, we found ourselves at the North End Pool.  This place is perfect for a hot summer day in the city.  It’s on the water edge, clean, and has fun snacks like peanut butter & fluff for sale.   I wish I could find a place like this in Brooklyn!  It was the 4th of July, so I was itching for some fireworks.. we ended up finding ourselves at a rooftop party, where two sets of fireworks were in eyeshot.  At this point, Joe and I were exhausted.  We got on a bus the next morning at 6am and were dropped at Penn Station by 11.  It felt so good to be home.
